Keeping it simple is an effective approach!

We took a walk at the Redwood Regional Park in Oakland that gave me some fantastic ideas for pastel painting. It was a cold but sunny winter day and the colors were crisp and bold. When I decided to paint it today I kept it very simple. The focus was the tree with shimmering light and dark values against the backdrop of some green hills. And that’s where I spent majority of the time. The painting was done in less than 30 minutes that kept it spontaneous and fun. Hope you enjoy this time lapse video. Please sign up and share my ‘Dynamic Painting in Soft Pastels’ workshop on Saturday, Feb 23 @10am-1pm in Alameda. Registration link here.
